GIFT HELPS FAMILIES COPE WITH BACK-TO-SCHOOL COSTS

Over 150 GIFT recipients attended ‘Best Foot Forward’ earlier this summer, where a truly impactful pop-up shopping experience awaited them.

Over 150 GIFT recipients attended ‘Best Foot Forward’ earlier this summer, where a truly impactful pop-up shopping experience awaited them. The event provided a platform for these recipients to browse and select free brand-new items for their homes and the upcoming school year.

The generosity extended beyond the recipients themselves, as more than 40 dedicated students volunteered their time to ensure the success of the event. Their efforts in sorting donations and 500 pairs of Russell and Bromley shoes contributed by the Young Barnet Foundation and Homestart Barnet, showcased the power of collaboration, making a difference in the community.

Parents praised the event, highlighting how it has significantly alleviated the financial burden of back-to-school expenses, especially for families with multiple young children.

“I was so grateful for this event; my children love their new shoes. GIFT’s work is very much appreciated!” one GIFT recipient said.

Shira Joseph, GIFT’s Programmes Director exclaimed: “One of the most exciting parts of this event was that we were able to engage tons of different volunteers of various age groups. From year 10 students who dealt with the event logistics to young professionals who volunteered as the “shoe shop assistants” and even the families who packed the toiletry bags in advance, each person involved gained so much from the experience.”
